Bio
Hello all. My name is Michael Johnson. I was born in Coulee Dam, Wa in 1988 and moved to a small farming community called Wilbur in 1998. While in Wilbur, I taught myself how to golf and was also active in the local Boy Scout troop, eventually attaining the rank of Eagle. My parents both worked at my school, my dad is the principal there and my mom teaches kindergarten. I have two older brothers. Brian, 26, is in his third year of law school at Gonzaga, and Patrick, 23, is a smokejumper based in Winthrop, WA. Brian achieved his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Gonzaga University, and Pat graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Forestry Management.
I graduated from high school with 16 other classmates, 3 of which joined me at WSU. I am in my fourth year here and am looking forward to graduating in the spring of 2010 with a Degree in Economics and a focus on Environmental Issues. While at WSU, I have been active in organizations such as Economics Club, Environmental Science Club, Alpha Kappa Psi , and of course Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. I have served as Hypophetes and Prytanis of TKE, and I spend much of my free time working to improve the fraternity. After graduation, I will be moving to Helena, Montana to start work in my career with the USDA as an Agricultural Statistician. In the spring of 2009, I was lucky enough to travel to Florence, Italy in a study abroad program and then was able to backpack around Europe for about month afterwards, making stops in France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, and Ireland along the way.
In the past, I have worked as a lifeguard at the local pool in Wilbur, and more recently have been a Seasonal Warehouseman at Central Washington Grain Growers. At the elevators, I worked very long hours in the summer, most days 7am-9pm, right up until school starts at the end of August.
TKE has provided me the opportunity to hone my speaking skills as well as an environment for me to become a mentor for younger members. I have taken full advantage of the opportunity to help out my fellow brothers in their journey of reaching their full potential, and I strive to be a positive ambassador and representative of Tau Kappa Epsilon not only at WSU, but in all facets of my life.
